Gin & Spice Four Pillars dinner 2019

Gin & Spice Four Pillars dinner 2019

On Wednesday 18th September we held our last event at our beloved McKillop Street home, and boy we went out with a bang!

We partnered with our friend at Four Pillars, to bring guests the 2019 edition of ‘Gin & Spice’.

Our guests were full & merry as they dined on a 5-course meal designed by our Head Chef Sungeun Mo, with matching cocktails curated by Four Pillars creative director James Irvine.

The fun kicked off at 7pm where guests were greeted with ‘Our Favourite G&T’ featuring Four Pillars Rare Dry Gin, Fever-Tree Mediterranean Tonic & orange, whilst snacking on orange & ginger peking duck wraps.

The dinner was held in our impressive Lantern Room filled to the brim with guests & familiar faces from last year. An enthusiastic welcome from the Red Spice Road team including the star of the show, Head Chef  Sungeun Mo, plus Four Pillar’s chief presenter Stuart Gregor kicked off the formal events of the evening.

After the welcome guests tucked into the first course, chicken skewer with kaffir lime leaf matched with ‘Jakarta Party Starter’ featuring spice negroni gin, fino, pineapple, mango, lemongrass to wash down the spice.

Each and every course was well received by all guests & spirits were high (not just because of the lubrication but the buzz created from the Red Spice Road & Four Pillars team).

Stand out dishes of the night included:

  • Salmon with soy, ginger, sesame sauce paired with ‘Shiso Fine’  Navy Strength Gin, sour plum, miso, caramel, shiso
  • Vietnamese shaking beef paired with ‘Ghee Wiz’ – Modern Australian Gin, Pepe Saya ghee, nashi pear x soursop, orange leaf
  • Black sticky rice with coconut paired with ‘Manila’ – Bloody Shiraz Gin, berry medley, pandan, banana caramel

Last but not least the team SURPRISED guests with the famous Pork Belly. The guests asked & the Red Spice Road team delivered!
There were even social media prizes generously given to the crowd including Frank body scrub & various Four Pillar bottles.

After a stand out night of conversation, food and drink, all guests left full, happy and well informed. See photos from the night on our Gin & Spice Facebook album.

We cannot wait to see you all at our new Queen Street location at the beginning of October.

Until then you can still expect the full Red Spice Road experience at our current home up until October 5th.

See you all soon!
