Christian is our brand spanking new General Manager at Red Spice Road. A man of charisma and flair, he brings a wealth of experience and delivers it with pizzazz. He has earned his stripes working the floor at the famous Nobu and Sake (to name a few). He joins us with a plethora of fresh ideas for the restaurant, an effervescent personality delivered with a smile, and a level of customer service that will charm and impress.
We take some time to get to know this delightful man a little better.
What inspired you to work in hospitality?
I have always had a passion for food and travel, so I wanted to take this passion and make a career out of it.
What is your favourite thing to eat?
A little conflicting, but I can’t go past beautiful, fresh sashimi and a really good greasy burger! Not necessarily to be consumed at the same time…
Where is your favourite place to eat out?
I’m a huge fan of Coda in Melbourne and Tetsuya in Sydney.
What is your perfect Melbourne day?
A glass of Rosé and hanging out with my dogs on the beach.
What are 3 things that make you smile?
Food, people and my dogs of course! My beagles, Tyler and Corbi, are like my little spoilt kids.
Favourite place you have travelled to?
Japan. This is where my passion for Asian cuisine all began, and I have never looked back.
Who are your heroes – real or fictional?
Nobu Matsuhisa, he taught me the absolutely invaluable lesson of how to respect ingredients and flavours.
Can you describe what Red Spice Road is to you in one sentence?
A high energy venue, where cuisine and cultures combine into a captivating melting pot.
What is your favourite dish you have tried so far on the Red Spice Road menu?
Of course the pork belly but I also love the duck curry.
What do you consider to be your unique touch that you will bring to the restaurant?
My vast experience in Asian cuisine and passion for unique beverages. I love putting Asian twists on old school classics.
